Auf gutem Grund
Unsere Lagen
Der richtige Boden ist die Grundlage für jeden Wein. Jede Traube hat eigene Vorlieben, ein bestimmter Wein verlangt nach bestimmtem Gestein.

Wine from Vienna
The right soil is the basis for every wine. Every grape has its own preferences, a certain wine requires a certain type of rock. With its diverse terroir, Vienna is a particularly good soil for fine grapes. Our vineyards are located in all of the city's major growing regions. Each has its own characteristics. Each location has its own special profile. None is like the other.
Our locations
01 Wall

Description
The vineyards in Mauer are the most southerly in the Vienna wine-growing region. The soils consist of sandy loam and flysch sandstone in the topsoil and dolomite rock with a high active lime content in the subsoil.
These geological conditions as well as the microclimate, which is influenced by the neighboring warm thermal region and the cool Vienna Woods, offer ideal conditions for white and red wines.

02 Oberlaa

Description
At 270 meters above sea level, the Laaerberg in Oberlaa is the highest ice age terrace in Vienna and at the same time the smallest wine-growing zone in south-eastern Vienna with only around 30 hectares of vineyards.
The soils consist of fertile black earth loess soils and quaternary ice age gravels. The climate is already strongly influenced by Pannonian influences and offers ideal conditions for mineral, drinkable wines.

03 Nussberg

Description
Vienna's most famous vineyards are located on the Nussberg in the north-west of the city. The Kahlenberg and Leopoldsberg, Vienna's highest elevations - the last foothills of the Alps - and the proximity to the Danube provide a unique, slightly cooler microclimate.
The Nussberg has the poorest and most calcareous soils, consisting of weathered shell limestone soil with sandy loam-loess terraces. This soil structure originates from the same geological period as those in Burgundy or Champagne.
